Harry Steele Savage (1898–1970)[ US Passport Scan United States Passport, 1923.] was an American illustrator, primarily of books for children and young adults.
Professional career
Savage was born on December 21, 1898, in Central Lake, Michigan to Irish and French Canadian immigrants, Flora (McLaughlin) and William Harry Savage. The earliest known reference to Savage's life as an artist comes from his World War 1 draft card, where he lists his occupation as artist for the J.L. Hudson Company in Detroit, Michigan. He is probably best known for the illustrations in
Edith Hamilton's
